How would the melting of the polar ice caps affect the atmosphere?
Q. i don't know, at all. i know it affects the hydrosphere, because the hdrosphere IS water geosphere- it will affect the shorelines biosphere- the melting of polar ice caps willl drcrease slainity, and some species need high salt water to survive. (idk if that's right.) idk about the atmosphere??

A. If earth did not have a moon the tides would be negligible. There would be less beach erosion and the waters near the shore would tend to be more stagnant. There would be less mixing. The easiest way to explain the number of moons is gravity. More massive objects would tend to be more attractive than less massive objects. This attraction might also breed more collisions. The collisions and near misses can result in more fragments which could result in more moons A large, massive object has a great deal of kinetic energy which is forced to appear at single location on the earth if it hits. This vaporizes some of the dirt and in addition throws up huge clouds of dust. All this extra stuff in the atmosphere can temporarily blot… [cont.]
