How to encourage non emergent patients to visit their doctors in the OPD?
Q. Many non emergent patients visit the ER even though they could be served faster by making an appointment to see their doctor at OPD.

A. Because there is always a chance something that looks minor may be pneumonia instead of a simple cold (for example) the emergency room cannot turn anyone away. That means possible lawsuit. I had a family of 5, ( mom, dad, and 3 screaming young kids) come into the E.R. one afternoon, all with colds to be seen by the MD. Just after they completed the paperwork, I got an ambulance patient come barreling in from an auto accident. Of course I took the ambulance right in, and the father came up to me, furiously screaming that I no right to take them in before his brood because he was "here first". Of course I let him wait. Ambulance trumps walk in colds.

Really how well do you think Pre-emergent herbicides really work?
Q. and I am in the US, do you people in the UK use this stuff? I guess it is timing when to put it down, etc. What did they use before in times past? Is it really better to reseed the lawn in Spring or to try and prevent crabgrass and other weeds??

A. If your lawn if kind of bare, I would over seed, re re-seed as soon as possible. The more time the weeds have the place to themselves, they more at home they'll make themselves. Personally, I can't advise you on the pre-emergents. I know what they do, I know that there are organic pre-emergents, but that you need to use them for years to build up their effectiveness. The non-organic pre-emergents work better/faster, but I have no personal experience. I can't advise you - because I don't use anything on my lawn for myself. No herbicides, no pre-emergent, no fertilizer. If I've got money to spend, it's going to be on the garden proper, and for my fruit trees and vegetables. My lawn looks okay to me. It's got a few dandelions - which… [cont.]

Will Jesus return as an AI? Will He be an emergent property of an increasingly complex internet web?
Q. The Bible doesn't require Him to come as a man. Appearing in sophistacated electronics is as reasonable (or unreasonable) as appearing as light or a cloud or anything else as a matter of fact since He is coming in His supernatural form. Will the coming development of artificial intellegence precipitate the Second Coming?

A. Interesting thought. I think something like that very well may happen, but it wouldn't be Jesus. It'd be something new.
