Q. When asked to find the principle issues within a subject what am I looking for?
Asked by charliegirl2424 - Fri Feb 13 20:30:07 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you are looking for those key issues that are essential or fundamental to the study or understanding of that subject. for example, in art, you might say that color, form, texture, and line are principle issues. or in english, you might say that conventions, syntax, meaning, and style are principle issues. this can get way more nuanced and detailed as you tackle subjects within a subject (within a subject), but i hope i've painted a clear picture of what you're after.

How can the principle of Agape be applied to the issue of Euthanasia?
Q. right, the principable of agape, would that prevent you from euthanasing somebody, because your supposed to love them and to kill them would be a sin, or would the principable of agape effect your actions on your principles, so, if you were a member of the VE society, and thought euthanasia was right, then you would euthanase somebody else because if you were in the same situation you would want to be euthanased, so you do it to them because, under the principle of agape, you love them as you love yourself.

A. This will depend a bit on whether you are using a Christian definition (the love of God for mankind) or the classical Greek (normally thought of as parental love) In general "agape" can be taken to mean a selfless love, so you would be taking the decision that was best for the individual (not what would be best for yourself in those circumstances nor what you would choose for yourself). The factors would have to include what the individual wants or would have wanted and so there can never be a general answer, it will vary in each case. As far as Christianity goes, your love or otherwise for the individual is irrelevant - it is never your choice as to the time of someones death - that is the prerogative of God and to usurp this… [cont.]

Q. I am really shy at school [high school] so I become mute sometimes. Today I requested to see a social worker to help me deal with some of my issues and well the principle wrote up some referral forms, and I saw the words "SELF-ADVOCATE" on them. What does that mean? exactly?

A. You obviously aren't - you certainly seem very bright to me. I think your principle is just looking out for the best of you. And as someone pointed out, some of the most brilliant thinkers were shy. Sometimes it's better just to observe things; that way you can take more in. And "self-advocate" means that you are advocating for yourself. You were willing to take that challenge - that's awesome. Good for you (: And just remember that the principle is looking out for you, and he wants the best from you. Just let me know if you need anything. My email is venerable_sage@yahoo.com. Feel free to contact me anytime you need to talk about anything. Best of luck, and take care!!

If you want us to do your assignment, then, that's not really the point of either the assignment, or this site. Do you know what's referred to by "Hegelian idealism"? Can you relate that to subsequent Continental philosophers -- existentialists and phenomenologists? If you can't see any connection, then explain why; if you can, explain that. Of course, there's always the famous quote that all of Western philosophy is a response to Plato. But my point is, if you're asking for HELP, then you need to be more specific about what, exactly, you're having problems with. Asking us… [cont.]

A. Critical analysis the purpose for writing a critique is to evaluate somebody's work (a book, an essay, a movie, a painting...) in order to increase the reader's understanding of it. A critical analysis is subjective writing because it expresses the writer's opinion or evaluation of a text. Analysis means to break down and study the parts. Writing a critical paper requires two steps: critical reading and critical writing. This is a guide to what you might look for in analyzing literature, particularly poetry and fiction. A. There is nothing an attorney can do. This was probably outlined in the terms of agreement when you signed up for the credit card. If it was a change that they made to your rate outside of the factors in the terms of your agreement they must notify you by mail within atleast 90 days of the changes. If you do not agree to the new terms you do have the right to close out the account with no penalty. Again this was probably in the fine print of the terms when you signed the application for the Credit Card. People do not see they can oftern raise and or lower your rate and your credit limit accordingly by doing frequent credit checks on your account. After your introductory rate is up it often goes up. A. As your restaurant relates to govt regulations, you could address zoning for where your biz is located. Traffic can also be a consideration. Taxes maybe? Ethical issues you can address hiring practices (diversity in your workforce). Also address practices of customer complaints (handle them equally and equitably, for example), purchasing decisions (do you only buy products from your family members, for example, therefore not having fair trade), etc. Good luck, there is a lot of material you could cover here.

A. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is the term used to refer to the standard framework of guidelines for financial accounting used in any given jurisdiction. GAAP includes the standards, conventions, and rules accountants follow in recording and summarizing transactions, and in the preparation of financial statements. 2nd Attempt RE: formulating legal principle from precedents?
Q. Hopefully, I'm more clear in my question this time. Well, here it is... How is it that a legal principle is formed using precedents? What are the most common principles used? What makes a certain case significant enough that a legal principle is actually formulated? There are laws that are derived from legal precedents e.g. anti-cyberbullying statutes. How is it that a case can be so compelling that an actual statute/law is enacted regarding a certain issue? Examples will be appreciated and may help understanding. Thanks!

A. I will take a stance and attempt to explain a precedence that I think you are looking for: * English system of precedent based on Latin maxim Stare Decisis Et Non Quieta Movere. * This means stand by what has been decided and do not unsettle the established -supports fairness and provides certainty in law. * At the end of a case the judge makes a speech stating the decision and gives the reason for the decision- considering arguments and facts then explain the principles of law he is using to come to the decision. * Ratio Decidendi = reason for deciding. * This is the information that is used to help judges decide in future cases. * Obiter Dicta= other things said - it is not binding precedent. * Judges in future… [cont.]
